Training Course Composition

Module One – Home Study/Self Practice

Embedded in the solid foundation of traditional yoga, Module One prepares you for Module Two the Practicum and Module Three.  The yoga manual containing yoga studies, insights and assignments accompany your course resources.  During Module One studies, you are required to attend a minimum of 2 yoga classes per week for the time it takes to complete: minimum of 35 hours.  These classes may be comprised of any combination of yoga styles, philosophy, sadhana, meditation, kirtan, and so on.  Please keep a signed journal of classes attended.

Module One is the same learning for either the chakra yoga or the pregnancy yoga training.

Module Two - 25 day Practicum Residential Retreat

2008/09 Practicum in Canada Canada 2010 in France 2010 in Australia

This module comprises of 25 days of a Practicum Retreat: meals, accommodations and training in Traditional Yoga as well as your chosen Specialty.  The Retreat set in a natural environment is where participants can cultivate their yoga experience in peace and calm.  Here you gain valuable contact hours with facilitators and participants and gain teaching practice.  Open dialogue is encouraged in the lectures, workshops, teaching and classes.  Silence is observed in the mornings.  Of the 25 days, you will have time to yourself.

What you learn in the first module comes together here in Module Two, solidifying your knowledge while new skills are developed.  You have time to develop aspects of yoga that challenge you and/or you want further details on - you learn in groups and individually.  Much of the information gained in the practicum benefits you for years to come personally and in your instructing. Each practicum is open to only 35 participants.

Module Three - Home Study/Self Practice

In the third Module, you will assimilate the knowledge from the first two Modules as you begin to deepen your level of yoga awareness and learning.  Your confidence and understanding becomes brighter, enabling you to move into teaching with ease. You have six months to a year to complete, though each person’s journey takes the time it takes.

You are required to attend a minimum of 2 classes of yoga per week while completing Module Three: minimum of 35 hours.  These classes may be comprised of any combinations of yoga styles, philosophy, sadhana, meditation, kirtan, and so on.  Please keep a signed journal of classes attended.

Module Four accommodates the two strains of the 500 Hour Yoga Trainings

Module Four - Yoga Teaching

This Module four is to establish your experience as an instructor.  After completing Modules One to Three you are certified to instruct yoga.  SSYS knows each teacher gains more insights and abilities through their teaching and acknowledging this experience is important.  An additional 100 hours of teaching experience is required before a participant is a Six Senses Yoga teacher with Honours.

Here in conjunction with self practice, students are to journal their observations and experiences whilst teaching.  A record of the classes taught are also to be kept.  In the study component the student choose what knowledge they would like to add to their practice and/or teaching, and is encouraged to develop this in their own way.

Module Four - Yoga Scholar Karma

This Module four grows the students giving nature.  After completing Modules One to Three students are certified as a Scholar of Yoga.  SSYS knows each gains special insights by giving freely of their time, sharing knowledge, offering a hand in various places, with different peoples of choice, imparting a giving nature.  A 100 hours of teaching experience is required before a participant is a Six Senses Yoga Scholar with Honours.

Usually there is no direct benefit for Karma Yoga. Seeking remuneration, self-worth, applause, and other benefits are not regularly sought but often are a result of Karma Yoga.

Here in conjunction with self practice, students are to journal their observations and experiences of their karmic adventures. Students are to keep a record of their karmic gesture hours.  In the study component the student choose what knowledge they would like to add to their lives and life long yoga study, and is encouraged to develop this in their own way.
