Cilica, BA, BSYA
Senior Yoga Instructor ~ Vancouver, B.C. & London, U.K.

Six Senses Yoga Society developed through Cilica’s personal journey to embrace nature and the senses into the context of classical yoga. When yoga comes alive; our mind awakens, we hear and feel our bodies in our ever changing surroundings. It is in the development of our senses that human nature blossoms.

Cilica believes it important that Six Senses Yoga Society function on a linear rather than hierarchical foundation maintaining closely to Traditional and Modern Indian Yoga, creating a profound link to the original 6,000 years old tradition.

Knowing instinctively to meditate and be in the moment, spirituality is a way of life. It is through continued exploration of yoga asanas, meditation and pranayama that her physical presence becomes inspiring and empowering.

An intuitive instructor, Cilica encourages personal interpretations of postures meditations, and philosophies, while preserving asanas’ alignment and integrity.  Her approach is mischievous, encouraging individual body shapes, abilities, and mindsets to simply be. Cilica challenges each participant to see themselves anew, while conscious that each is already perfect.

Fi Yang Mah

Cathy Mah Fi Yaing - Las Angelas, California

Fi Yang Mah
Senior Yoga Instructor ~ Calgary, Alberta.

Fi Yang joyful passion for yoga is fueled by her deep interest in the ancient eastern wisdom of linking the 3 energies of body, mind and spirit. She believes that each person will naturally be led to yoga through one of these aspects, and when the other two are discovered, much happiness and health is uncovered, making our lives more complete and meaningful.

Relating her views on the body, mind and spirit: “Yoga practice should be safe, fun, and an enjoyable exploration of your body’s capabilities, not an exhausting ordeal. Many practitioners learn the hard way, making their practice unsafe injuring themselves by forcing their body into a pose, ignoring the signals in their breathing rate, or losing their sense of calm and repose in their mind.  As for the spirit, some of us come to learn how to let it soar through music, art, and meditation- and not necessarily in that order. If you don’t eventually find the spirit within yoga and yourself, you miss out on an entirely beautiful and vast experience that lifts you to a place of trust, inspiration and limitless possibilities. The main thing is, START from where you are at this moment in your life. Be honest, open and it will come naturally.”

Fi Yang supplemented her learning by studying Sanskrit, Human Anatomy and Physiology, voice training, and practices holistic living and natural therapies. She has also studied an ancient Indian devotional art form- Bharata-Natyam classical Indian Dance, and enjoys playing an ancient Chinese instrument known as the Guzheng.

Her teaching style is based on the Krishnamacharya Lineage - the master yoga scholar and teacher of notable teachers Desikachar, BKS Iyengar, Indra Devi and K. Pattabhi Jois. She has received certification through Srivatsa Ramaswami, Krishnamacharya’s most longstanding apprenticed student outside of his immediate family.
